As a business grows, so do its computer needs, in terms of hardware, software and data storage. The typical IT department can be run ragged trying to keep up with all the computers in use. VDI, or Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, uses software to create virtual desktops. Individual users no longer have to store their operating systems, applications and data on their laptops or desktops. VDI can also be accessed by network-connected devices remotely. These are known as thin clients.
